Brian Foster AIFP
Brian began his career in banking in 1985 and after three years in a branch in Oxford, he then spent six years working around the Thames Valley as a mortgage consultant for an Estate Agency company.
Following a move to Royal & Sun Alliance in 1995, Brian spent two years advising clients on wider financial advisory issues on a commission basis. “I enjoyed meeting and advising people, but I became uncomfortable with the concept of being paid by product commissions.” By this time, he had completed the financial planning certificate and he needed a more professional environment in which to work.
Brian was then recruited by Critchleys in 1997, where he teamed up with Jason McGuigan in creating the fee-based financial planning division. He completed the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate in 1998/99, adding specialist qualifications in pensions, investments, taxation and trusts, and has focused on developing quality long term trusted relationships with clients ever since. He recently gained the prestigious Certified Financial Planner license and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Financial Planning (AIFP).
Outside of work, Brian enjoys a wide range of activities, which includes golf (he plays off scratch), motorcycling, snowboarding, reading, traveling and socializing with friends. His partner, Palmera, comes from Cape Town so they enjoy spending time visiting family and friends in South Africa.
