Jason McGuigan CFP
Jason started his career in financial services in 1988 as a self employed financial consultant and he ran his own practice for 8 years. During this phase, he advised on a broad range of financial products including pensions, investments, life assurance and mortgages and his practice had tie ups with General Portfolio and Commercial Union.
In 1995 Jason made the decision to move into an employed banking role and joined Abbey National as a branch-based financial adviser. After a successful first year, Jason was promoted to Insurance Development Manager, a training and development role. This promotion proved to be another successful move as he was able to get a better understanding of the Financial Service Authority’s (FSA’s) training and competency regime and gain management experience.
It was during his time at Abbey National that Jason started studying for advanced professional qualifications. This new knowledge led him to seek out a new role as an Independent Financial Planner within a professional practice. Jason joined Critchleys in 1997 where he teamed up with Brian Foster, and he has been responsible for managing the department since 2004 as Director of Financial Planning.
Jason passed the internationally recognised Certified Financial Planner examinations in 2005 and became one of only 600 or so UK Certified Financial Planners (CFP). He is a member of the Institute of Financial Planning.
Jason has been married to his wife Sarah for 17 years and they have two children. His interests include spending time with the family, regular travel to Spain to improve his Spanish and snow boarding.
