September 2010 - Jason McGuigan is one step closer to Chartered Status

Jason has recently added another pension’s exam to his resume by passing a paper which focuses on client’s approaching retirement and their pension income options. This paper means that Jason is one step closer to achieving his goal of Chartered Status by the second quarter of 2011. The next paper he is sitting covers personal tax which leaves just 2 more thereafter. This qualification when added to the already held Certified Financial Planner (CFPcm) license, demonstrates his commitment to advising at a very high level.

Introduced in 2006, the individual ‘Chartered Financial Planner’ title is only held by about 2,000 advisers in the UK.

Chartered status is helping to elevate holders to the same public standing enjoyed by other Chartered professions. It further reinforces clients’ belief and conviction in the professionalism and ethical credibility of the holder.

The title is available to members carrying on business as providers of financial planning advice, or related activities, to individuals or orporate entities who meet the following criteria:
• hold the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning
• have five years’ relevant industry experience (not necessarily post-qualification)
• adhere to the CII’s Code of Ethics and Conduct
• demonstrate three years’ existing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and commit to maintaining this activity
